"She Was Not Dressed As A Prostitute," And Other Highlights From The Time Andray Blatche Invited Two Radio Hosts To Tell Him How Awful He Is
Andray Blatche and the Washington Wizards just can't get away from each other. Blatche, now with the Nets, took a jab at his former team last night when he asked reporters what the Wizards' record was. Then he got into it on Twitter with Wizards fans and reporters who still had grievances to air over Blatche's time with the team. All of this somehow led to Blatche calling into a D.C. radio show hosted by Holden Kushner and Danny Rouhier on 106.7 The Fan this morning. Blatche talked to them for 24 minutes, but things didn't get good until the last eight minutes or so of the conversation (which we have embedded below), when Blatche invited Rouhier and Kushner to name all of the things he did wrong during his time with the Wizards.
Rouhier and Kushner did not hold back, calling Blatche out for the time he was busted for soliciting a prostitute, challenging a fan to a fight, his association with an alleged strip club and something called Lap Dance Tuesday, getting caught driving recklessly with a suspended license, and so much more.
On the prostitution bust: "That was a joke gone bad. … She was not dressed as a prostitute. She was just in front of the club, and we were just talking trash, playing around." (For the record, the police report from the incident tells a different story)
On Lap Dance Tuesday: "Lap Dance Tuesday is not a strip club. It's a regular club in Miami called Cameo, but on Tuesday nights they call it Lap Dance Tuesday. You can go down there any Tuesday, and will not see no strippers."
On reckless driving: "That was my fault."
On challenging a fan to a fight: "That was not me, but I had part in it because one of my friends [unintelligible] and he was talking back and forth and I said, 'Go ahead, I don't care. Do what you want to him.'"
Blatche's responses may have been just as flimsy as they were hilarious, but he candidly admits to being young, stupid, and out of shape during his stint with the Wizards multiple times. That's something. That's vaguely mature. The whole thing ends with one of the hosts going on a "how dare you waste your physical gifts" rant and demanding that Blatche "Keep the Wizards' name out of his mouth." And what does Blatche do? He graciously expresses appreciation for being allowed to appear on the show.
